Old dogs don't stand a chance

They often have trouble adjusting to life in a shelter, and because of their age, they need more comfort. Their chances of being adopted are negligible. Their age works against them, and older dogs often come with higher (medical) costs. Reasons for people to pass by these dogs.

Project Senior places these dogs in the spotlight. We give them a face and a second chance!

How do we do this?

We are looking for so-called forever foster families in the Netherlands. These are families who open their home and heart to an elderly dog and are financially supported by Project Senior. In this way, the burdens are not entirely on their shoulders in case of illness.

This financial support is brought together by sponsors who donate a chosen amount each month. As a sponsor, you can contribute to a wonderful old age for senior dogs who had no future in Portugal with just a small amount.

What are the sponsorship funds used for?

In the beginning, many costs suddenly have to be made. The trip, blood tests, microchip, passport, etc. Medically, there is often 'delayed maintenance,' such as teeth that need to be pulled or tumors that need to be removed. In addition, we have recurring costs for medication, food, vaccinations, etc. And in the end, of course, the costs for euthanasia.

Medical care

Our vet (MARKdierenarts) helps these rescue dogs selflessly. We only have to pay the cost of medical treatment and get a discount on medication. The medical care focuses on quality of life, not on prolonging life.
