Joy was brought to the shelter for an unknown reason, as unfortunately happens all too often. After a while, she was lucky enough to be adopted by a young couple. That happiness was short-lived, however; the couple made other plans that didn't fit well with having a dog, so they returned Joy to the shelter.
Apparently, she hadn't been properly protected against parasites either, as she turned out to be infected with leishmania. Joy deserved so much better. She is the sweetest, gentlest dog imaginable!
Fortunately, we found a wonderful home for her in the Netherlands. Thanks to donors from Project Senior, the majority of the costs for transport, vaccinations, and leishmania treatment were covered. She is now living with a very loving permanent foster family, sharing her home with several other dogs. Joy is happy and will never again be discarded or abandoned in a shelter.
